Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday said that gold medal winners in the Olympics games from Chhattisgarh will be awarded Rs 3 crores.
The silver and bronze medalists would get Rs 2 crores and 1 crore respectively, he said.
Sai said this at the State Sports Excellence Award Ceremony on National Sports Day.
The programme was presided over by Speaker Dr. Raman Singh. The special guests were Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tankram Verma.
The Chief Minister said the government was committed to augmenting the sports facility in the state in order to promote sports.
The government honored six players with Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award for 2021-22, six players with Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award, two players with Veer Hanuman Singh Award, 11 players with Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Samman, five players with Shaheed Vinod Choubey Samman and 11 players were awarded the Chief Minister Trophy for 2021-22.
Similarly, for 2022-23, four players were honored with trophies of Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award, seven players were awarded the Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award, one player got the Veer Hanuman Singh Award.
Fifteen players were awarded the Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Samman, five got the Shaheed Vinod Choubey Samman and 24 selected players got the Chief Minister Trophy for 2022-23.
For 2021-22 and 2022-23, prize money of Rs 76 lakh was given to 97 awardees players and Rs 60.33 lakh was transferred to the bank accounts of 502 medal winning players, totalling around Rs 1.33 crore.
