Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the Mahakaushal Express train derailment in Mahoba and directed officials to ensure proper and prompt treatment of the injured. He also asked top officials to probe the reasons behind the mishap.

A total of 52 passengers were injured, 10 of them seriously, when eight bogies of Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Mahakaushal Express got derailed in Mahoba district early on Thursday morning .

The Chief Minister asked Principal Secretary (Home) Devashish Panda and DGP Javeed Ahmed to apprise him of the reasons behind the derailment, a government communique released in lucknow on Thursday said.

The CM’s concern stems from the fact that blasts on rail tracks have been reported from Kanpur Dehat and Sant Kabirnagar in recent times and fish plates were removed in many places including Farukkabad, Gorakhpur etc.

Although the Railways is set to start a probe into causes leading to the derailment, Yogi asked state officials to look into the matter at their level.  The CM also directed that treatment be ensured to the injured and extended a financial aid of Rs 50,000 each for the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 each to those with minor injuries.

On the CM’s directives, Health minister Siddharth Nath Singh and Principal Secretary Medical & Health, Arun Kumar Sinha flew to Mahoba on a helicopter to oversee rescue and relief operations and also met the victims to enquire about their well being. Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Sinha is camping at the accident site.
