With emphasis on taking “rest” in human life, the sixth ‘World Rest Day’ was celebrated here on Monday (December 30) under the leadership of social activist and Supreme Court lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy.
The day brought energy and vigour for the residents of Dagamunda Leprosy Colony as they joined the celebration for the fifth time in their locality during the total six years.
Each year, Tripathy celebrates the day among vulnerable segments of the society at Nua-Adivasi Colony, Geltua and Jena Sahi under Korkara gram panchayat. Leprosy Colony residents thanked Tripathy for ensuring their human and land rights through litigation and opening of a new school and an Anganwadi Centre.
Tripathy said, “Rest does not mean laziness or lethargy.”
Among others, advocate Rabi Singh, social activists Kishor Kumar Nayak, Manoj Kumar Nayak and Tapaswini Singh participated in the celebration.
Mention may be made that the uniqueness of the World Rest Day was appreciated by the India Book of Records last year.
