Will fight till roll back of demonetization decision: Mamata

Wednesday, 30 November 2016 | PNS | Lucknow

West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) president Mamata Banerjee said that her party will fight till the Centre roll backs it decision on demonetization.

In her own inimitable manner, Bannerji dared the Union government to get her arrested while addressing a protest rally at 1090 crossing in lucknow on Tuesday.

Putting to rest speculations about CM Akhilesh Yadav joining the protest, it was attended by UP ministers Arvind Singh Gope and Ravidas Mehrotra, SP national vice -president Kironmay Nanda besides AITMC leader Mukul Roy, Subroto Roy Bakshi, INlD leader Matin Khan and other leaders.

Bannerji reminded the BJP-led government at the Centre that if people had the power to elect a government, they also had the option of snatching it away from a government.

“Modiji has done well for the industrialists ignoring the pain of the common man, farmers, factory workers, students, unemployed and employees. Where are the Acche Din which was promised byteh BJP IJ” she querried.

The TMC leader charged that demonetization will prove to be the greatest financial scandal of the country and waved some documents from thedais claiming that some BJP leaders had purchased land soon after the demonetization move.

“Where did they get the cash to work out land deals worth several crores of rupees IJ Will the government take any action against themIJ” she asked.

Bannerji accused the Prime Minister of demonetization high value notes with an eye on the impending Assembly polls in UP, Punjab and some other states. “The hardship tha the people are facing is even more severe than the Emergency days. You are forcing demonetization on the masses which is not good politics,” she asserted.

Bannerji soughtto know from the BJP brass whether the money deposited by the common people in banks after demonetization was black money. “Are we all chor (thieves) and they (BJP) and Sanghwalas are sant (saint) IJ”she asked the public present at the protest meeting.

Presenting details of banks in gram panchayats of UP, Banerji  said that there were 39,000 village panchayats where banking system did not exit even today.

“How will the farmers get seed, how will they purchase their daily bread and butter. These people do not known about the use of plastic money which has rendered their lives hell. But Modiji is not bothered about the plight of the innocent common man,” she alleged.

To connect with the crowd, mostly workers of the Samajwadi Party, Mamta Banerji even tried her hand at Urdu ‘shayri’ saying , “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil me hai, dekhna had jor kitna baju-e katil me hai. We will keep on fighting forthe commonman till the logical end. Our protest will continue until the Centre rolls back its decision and I hope yopu all will support us on this issue.”

While concluding her speech, the West Bengal CM thanked UP ministers and Samajwadi Party workers for co-operating with her party in organizing the function and said that her blessings were always with with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
