VHP sets to revive 'Ram temple' in Ayodhya issue

Friday, 22 February 2013 | SR | Bhopal

The long smouldering issue of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya is all set to be revived by the saffron brigade as the elections in the State as well as at the Centre draw closer.

The central India unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced to initiate a massive propaganda in the region to generate support for a fresh round of agitation to build Ram temple at the controversial site of Babri mosque in Ayodhya.

The announcement was made by VHP State Secretary Rajesh Tiwari in the State capital on Thursday. The announcement comes in pursuance to the proposals finalised by VHP’s Kendriya Margadarshak Mandal which met at the Sangam in Allahabad earlier this month.

Tiwari informed that the Parishad will initiate a door-to-door campaign of chanting the ‘Ram Vijay Mahamantra’ from April 11. The campaign will be continued till May 13.

“VHP workers will go door-to-door in every village of the region to encourage people to conduct regular jaap of the mahamantra. This will increase the spiritual power of Hindus. This spiritual power will enable us to construct the Ram temple in Ayodhya,” Tiwari said.

“We have conducted such campaigns for chanting the mahamantra earlier as well. It was due to the spiritual effect of this mantra that Allahabad High Court gave a judgement in our favour,” he added, referring to the court’s judgement in September 2010 in which it partitioned the controversial site into three parts.

Tiwari also remarked that the Ram temple issue is an emotional and civilizational issue for the Hindus and that it cannot be resolved by courts.

Besides the Ram temple issue, Tiwari informed that the Parishad will also initiate campaigns for stopping cow-slaughter, cleaning river Ganga and for providing protection to women.
