The Uttar Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday approved 13 significant proposals aimed at providing relief and facilities for the state’s residents. Among the key decisions, a major change involves the exemption of stamp duty on property registrations between family relatives.

Under this new policy, only a nominal fee of Rs 5,000 will be required for such registrations, a move intended to ease property disputes and foster family harmony.

Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the Settlement Deed proposal and approved the ‘Uttar Pradesh Data Centre (First Amendment) Policy-2021’.

This amendment will offer investors the benefit of power supply through dual grid lines, enhancing infrastructure for data centers in the state. In another development, scholarship rates for students in Sanskrit schools have been increased, which is expected to support Sanskrit education and provide greater financial aid to students.

The cabinet also approved the Operation and Maintenance Policy-2024 for piped drinking water supply in rural areas, which aims to ensure a consistent and high-quality water supply.

To improve tourism facilities, guest houses managed by the State Tourism Corporation will now be available on contract, enhancing accommodation options for both domestic and international tourists.

Further decisions include the state government’s commitment to cover the entire Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the Ganga Expressway project, a move that will significantly bolster the state’s infrastructure.

In the realm of housing and urban planning, amendments were approved regarding the distribution of an additional 2 percent stamp duty on property transfers to various development authorities and local bodies.

Moreover, the cabinet approved the demolition of a 25-year-old building in District Hospital, Deoria, to facilitate the construction of an upgraded Tax Autonomous State Medical College under the Centrally Aided Scheme.

Other approved measures include the improved utilisation of staff at state airstrips and the better functioning of newly constructed airstrips.

Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned the development of extra-curricular activities on unused land at Government Inter Colleges and High Schools.

The Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy-2024 was also approved to regulate and promote digital media in the state.

Finally, the cabinet agreed to a customised incentive package for ultra mega industrial units and approved an amendment to lighten the land acquisition limits in Gautam Buddha Nagar district under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013.
