Traffic advisory issued ahead of Janmashtami

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory on Sunday for arrangements at various temples and other key attractions, including Laxmi Narayan Mandir and ISCKON temple ahead of Krishna Janmashtami, which will be observed on August 26, an annual festival, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna.

The Delhi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive advisory that includes the traffic diversions, restrictions and parking information to manage the large devotee’s influx due to the festival. It informed that the prominent functions of Janmashtami will be held at Laxmi Narayan Mandir in New Delhi, ISKCON Temple in East of Kailash, Dwarka Sector 13 and Rohini Sector 25, Janmashtmi Park in Punjabi Bagh, Adhya Katyani Shakti Peeth in Chhattarpur, Santoshi Mata Mandir in Hari Nagar, DDA Ground in Dwarka Sector 10, Golok Dham Temple in Dwarka Sector 10 and Gufawala Mandir in Preet Vihar.

For Laxmi Narayan Mandir, vehicular traffic will not be allowed from Poundabout Talkatora Stadium towards Mandir Marg upto Peshwa Road to Mandir Marg T-Point and vice versa. “Similarly, no vehicle will be allowed on Mandir Lane from Roundabout Shankar Road to Mandir Marg,” it stated, while sharing diversion points for buses and commercial vehicles.

It also added that buses originating from Shivaji Stadium and going towards Mandir Marg will be diverted towards Panchkuian Road or towards Roundabout GPO as per the routes of the buses.

For those visiting ISCKON temple in East of Kailash, parking arrangements for general public will be at Captain Gaur Marg, Aastha Kunj Road and near Sapna Cinema. Special invitees can avail parking arrangements near Gate no 3 of the temple and will enter through Gate no 4 on Aastha Kunj road.

It added that the entry of general public will be through Gate No. 1 of the temple and will exit through Gate No. 2 of the temple. “The entry of the special invitees will be through Gate No. 4-A. The other invitees will park their vehicles on Aastha Kunj Road and enter through Gate Nos. 4 and 5 and reach the temple in shuttle services,” the traffic police stated.

It also said that certain roads will be closed including Raja Dhirsain Marg from Eden Hospital (C-Block, East of Kailash) cut towards ISKCON temple and Raja Dhirsain Marg from Sant Nagar Red light towards ISKCON temple.

The traffic police also issued advisory regarding restrictions and diversions near different temples on the festive day. Further it stated, “On this occasion, many Mandir Samitis will also take out Janmashtami Shobha Yatras and processions comprising of rath, jhankis, bands, tempos and others in various parts of Delhi. Traffic will be diverted as per requirement. No Parking shall be allowed on the routes of the processions.”

The traffic police advised the general public to be mindful of possible congestion on roads leading to the temples and the routes of the processions. “There is likelihood of general slowing down of traffic and congestion on roads. General public and motorists are advised to plan their journeys keeping the festivities and related congestion in mind and keep extra time for their journey so that possible delay can be taken into account. They are also advised to use Metro and other public transport to avoid congestion on roads,” the police stated.

It added that motorists are advised to follow the directions of the traffic policemen deployed on duty to avoid inconvenience.
