A delegation of Ayurveda teachers called on Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday at his official residence and handed over a memorandum to him requesting allocation of land in Koni village for second Government Ayurveda College opened by State Government in Bilaspur.

They also requested Singh to take necessary initiative for establishing a National Ayurveda Institute in Chhattisgarh. Taking note of their demands, Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand to take necessary action in the direction.

It is noteworthy that State Government established second Government Ayurveda College of state in Bilaspur in year 2014. Sixty seats have been allotted to this college for BAMS course. Presently, this college is operating in a private building, and about 10 acres of land is required for expansion of this college.

Delegation conveyed through the memorandum that at present, land for this college and associated hospital is being allocated around 20 km away from Bilaspur city. They urged CM that land for this purpose should be allocated near the city for convenience of public, college teachers and students.

During discussion with Chief Minister, the delegation requested that private BAMS graduate physicians should be allowed for allopathic practice, like in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and other states.

Chief Minister assured them of considering their demands on a serious note. The delegation included Ex-Principle Dr DK Tiwari, Member of CCIM New Delhi Dr Ravi Khichariya along with Dr Sanjay Shukla, Dr Nikhil Ranjan Nayak, Dr lC Harjpal, Dr Anuj Khare and Dr Sunil Golhani.
