State health and energy Minister Rajendra Prasad Singh (Minister-in-charge of the East Singhbhum district) on Friday said that the problem of shortage of teachers in the State schools in the district will be solved by July.
During a district planning committee meeting chaired by Singh at the district collectorate, he instructed Amitabh Kaushal, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, to complete the recruitment of primary teachers."Yes, we are aware of the situation and are working in this direction. Though the recruitment process was completed but there has been delay due to model code of conduct in view of the lok Sabha elections. However, the teachers recruitment will be completed within one month," said the minister.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner informed that a committee has been constituted to shortlist the names of the teachers selected on the basis of norms laid out by Jharkhand Academic Council. After the list is prepared the district education establishment committee will announce posting of the teachers in different schools.The teachers had been selected on the basis of the test conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council in November last year through Jharkhand Teachers Eligibility Test. More than 800 posts of primary and para teachers are lying vacant in different Government schools for several years.
The district planning committee also announced that all matters pertaining to violation of Right To Education (RTE) Act in the district will be dealt with.The committee also constituted a four-member committee to look into the anomalies in the Rs 64.18 crore Mango drinking water project and submit report within June 30.
The Mango project - aiming to supply 48 million litres per day -as a public-private partnership between state drinking water and sanitation department and Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco. At present, against a demand for over six million litres of water a day, three lakh Mango residents receive less than a third, that is, less than two million litres.
The Rs 64.18 crore ambitious drinking water project, as per affidavit filed by East Singhbhum district administration before Jharkhand High Court in December last year, was to commence from March 31, 2013. The project was mentioned in the 2005-06 budget with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore. The foundation stone was laid by then Governor K Shankarnarayan in 2009.
