Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday dismissed AAP’s claims of BJP ‘abducting’ its Bawana Councillor Ramchandra calling it baseless and false while demanding the Delhi Police investigate the video released by the AAP.
Sachdeva, while dismissing the allegation made by the AAP, stated, “The AAP leaders are merely making unsuccessful attempts to create confusion among the public. Their councillor is at home making videos claiming that someone has taken him away. There is no mention of any names, no details of where he was taken, or who dropped him off at home.”
These charges come just some days before the crucial zonal ward committee elections of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), slated to be held on Wednesday. Earlier, Ramchandra, councillor from Ward 28, along with four other AAP councillors joined the BJP last Sunday. Although he returned to AAP a few days later after he claimed seeing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his dream.
The Delhi BJP chief blamed the party and its leaders including AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of engaging in fabricating stories. “The political ground of the AAP in Delhi has shifted, and the people of Delhi are not going to fall for these false statements. Even AAP's own leader, Atishi Marlena, is running around the court due to these lies, and the same fate awaits those making similar false accusations,” he said.
The BJP leader requested the Delhi Police to thoroughly investigate the video released by the AAP and take legal action against those responsible. “No one trusts the words of AAP's MLAs and municipal councillors who are involved in theft, corruption, and looting. AAP leaders are only trying to create sensationalism.”
Hitting back at the AAP leaders, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor took to X and accused Sisodia and AAP MLA and MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak of "lies" and " fake sensationalism".
"Whether councillor Ram Chander is in your party or not, we are not bothered. It is certain that he is sitting at his residence while you are spreading rumours," Kapoor reacted in a post on X in Hindi.
