Police should build connections with people: CM

Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said that the image of the police should be such that the public look up to them with respect and not fear. For this, it is important for the police to establish emotional connection with the people.

The Chief Minister was dedicating the residential quarters constructed by Madhya Pradesh Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation in Indore on Saturday. As many as 944 houses costing more than Rs 155 crore are being constructed for police personnel in Indore. Of these 236 multi-storeyed houses were dedicated by the Chief Minister on Saturday.

Nath said that the police have constant communication and dialogue with the public. The role of the police should be cooperative and work on providing speedy justice to them must be ensured. He said that in rural and urban areas, the police should create trust in the general public with their conduct-behaviour.

The Chief Minister said that the Government is committed to protect the interests of police personnel who provide 24 hours of service. The Government has decided to give a day’s weekly off to the police personnel so that their tension is reduced and they get back to work the next day afresh. With this decision, the policemen can now spend time with their family. He said that the houses made with new technology is a step towards facilitating policemen and will continue even further.

Director General of Police VK Singh said that Madhya Pradesh Police is working with state-of-the-art resources and technology to control criminals and crimes in the State. In this chain, the new techniques have been used in the houses being built for the policemen also. Share world technology has been used for the first time in two-room houses. The houses will be equipped with gas connection, fire fighting system, sewerage treatment plant, Narmada connection, tube well, power system and four star facility.

Public Works and Environment Minister Sajjan Singh Verma, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Tulsiram Silawat, Home Minister Bala Bachchan, Higher Education Minister Jitu Patwari, Indore Municipal Corporation Mayor Malini Goud, MP Shankar Lalwani and MLAs were present in the dedication programme.
