Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains in Uttar Pradesh. He flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains, one of which will run between Meerut and Lucknow.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his pleasure at the prime minister’s gift to Uttar Pradesh. Following the virtual launch event, the chief minister took to social media to extend his gratitude to the prime minister for this new addition for the people of the state.

On his social media account, Chief Minister Yogi wrote, “Under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the visionary behind ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the nation’s economic, social and cultural development continues to thrive. Today, the prime minister has further advanced this journey by introducing three new Vande Bharat Express trains. The Prime Minister has virtually launched the state-of-the-art, world-class Vande Bharat Express trains between Meerut-Lucknow, Madurai-Bengaluru and Chennai-Nagercoil. Heartfelt thanks to the prime minister for this gift, which will enhance tourism, boost business and improve connectivity.”

The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express train between Meerut and Lucknow brings high-speed connectivity to western Uttar Pradesh, significantly enhancing travel options for residents. This new addition will provide a pleasant, smooth and comfortable journey for passengers. Prior to this, Uttar Pradesh already had six Vande Bharat Express trains operating between Delhi-Varanasi, Ranchi-Varanasi, Lucknow-Dehradun, Patna-Lucknow, Anand Vihar-Ayodhya and Gorakhpur-Prayagraj. With the addition of the Meerut-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express, the state’s high-speed rail network has expanded even further.

Before flagging off the trains, Prime Minister Modi remarked that a new chapter is being added to the country’s development journey from north to south.

“Today, we are launching the Vande Bharat train service between Meerut and Lucknow. This expansion marks a significant step towards achieving our goal of a developed India. The three new Vande Bharat trains will connect three key cities, with the Meerut-Lucknow route being particularly notable for the people of western UP,” he said.

The prime minister continued, “Meerut and western UP have long been centres of revolution and today they are experiencing a new surge in development. While Meerut is being connected to Delhi through the RRTS, the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express train will also reduce the distance to state capital Lucknow. The NCR region exemplifies how modern trains, expressways, expanded air services, and the PM Gati Shakti vision are transforming the country’s infrastructure.”
