Parties in mahagathbandan inherently opposed: Yogi

Sunday, 31 March 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Hitting out at the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked how could ‘ker’ (banana) and ‘ber’ (Indian plum) exist together.

“It is an alliance of strange bedfellows and the parties in the mahagathbandan are inherently opposed to each other in their character, ideology, orientation and social support base. This alliance can never be successful as people won’t accept them,” he said.

Yogi said that people were aware of the conduct and performance of the previous governments headed by Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party and the electorate would give them a befitting  lesson  to the “mahamilavati and corrupt alliance” in the Lok Sabha elections.

Exuding confidence that the BJP was strong and front-runner in UP, Yogi said, “In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had won 73 seats along with its allies and in the 2017 UP assembly election it had won 325 seats with its allies and later in the municipal polls, the party had won 14 out of the total 16 municipal corporations. We are confident of achieving the target of winning 74 plus seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.”

Talking to media persons at the BJP state headquarters here on Saturday during the joining of SP MLC Choudhury Virendra Singh, Yogi said that BJP was never weak and it would win at least 74 seats in UP.

Yogi said the aspirations of the electorate of India, particularly the youths, for a strong and prosperous India would see them rally behind the BJP to give a second term to Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.

“During the five-year tenure of the Narendra Modi government, India has achieved spectacular success in domestic as well as global fronts and the country has emerged as the fastest growing economy of the world,” the Chief Minister said.

Yogi said the BJP was cruising ahead on its ideology of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and the opposition was destined for a crushing defeat.

He also claimed that the joining of Gujjar leader Chowdhury Virendra Singh would strengthen BJP in western UP.
