A local Court in Jaunpur convicted one more accused in connection with the terror attack on Shramjeevi Express on Jul;y 28, 11 years ago in Jaunpur.
Additional District and Session Justice (First) Budhiram Yadav while convicting Obadurrrahman alias Babu Bhai on Tuesday will declare the quantum of punishment on Wednesday.
As per reports, the accused was brought from Murshidabad jail of Bengal to Jaunpur on May 9, 2006 and during the trial a total of 56 witnesses testified in the court against him.
It may be mentioned that 14 persons were killed while 90 others injured when a bomb ripped through a bogey of Shramjeevi Express at Hariharpur crossing between Harpalganj (Singramau) and Koiripuri (Sultanpur) railway stations.
After investigations, the probe agency found Obodurrahaman alias Babu Bhai (Bangladesh), Nafiqul Vishwas (Murshidabad), Sohag Khan alias Hilal alias Hilaluddin (Bangladesh), Mohammnad Alamgir alias Roni (Bangladesh), Doctor Saeed and Gulam Rajdani to be involved in the blast.
Whie there is no clue of Doctor Saeed, another accused Gulam Rajdhani died in a police encounter. The planning of the blast was done in Rajshahi Bangladesh. Among the other accused terrorist Mohammad Sharif is still out of bounds.
The police had arrested three accused Obedurrahman, Hillaluddin and Nafiqul Vishwas and lodged them in Jaunpur jail. Another terrorist Mohammad Alamgir alias Roni was arrested in 2007 and was sent to Tihar Jail. The court awarded capital punishment to Alamgir on July 30 last and is currently in Naini Jail of Allahabad.
