New system active in the State: Heavy rains in 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rainfall was induced by an active system in Madhya Pradesh. On Sunday, it rained in 12 districts including Bhopal and Indore, darkness prevailed due to dense dark cloud late in the afternoon in Indore.  

After torrential rain, water entered houses and shops in many low-lying areas. Roads were flooded. It rained intermittently in Bhopal after noon. Three sluice gates of Kerwa Dam were opened. At the same time, water was released by opening 2 gates of Ujjain's Gambhir Dam.

On Sunday, one inch of rain was recorded in Bhopal and Ujjain in the state. Chhindwara received 45 inches of rain and Indore, Narmadapuram-Khajuraho received more than half an inch of rain. Many districts including Seoni, Guna, Khargone, Pachmarhi, Rewa, Shivpuri continued to receive rain. In Vidisha, the pandal erected in the cultural building for the program of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan fell down.

Senior meteorologist  said that the strong system will bring rain in the state for the next 2 days.

This time the monsoon has been around expected lines. In just 70 days, the quota of normal rainfall was full in 21 districts including Bhopal-Gwalior. Among these, there are 14 districts where more than 100% of the rain has been recorded.

Sheopur received the highest rainfall of 157%, while only 57% of the rain was recorded in Rewa. Like July, the monsoon has rained well in August. There was 10% more rain than the quota. The figure of normal rainfall will be completed as soon as only 3.1 inches of rain is received in September.

Overall, 34.2 inches of rain has been received in the state from 1 June to 31 August, while 30.8 inches of rain should have been received till now, 14.5 inches of rainfall has been recorded in August. This is one and a half inches more than the quota. The average rainfall in August is 13.1 inches. This time it rained for about 25 days. Due to this, all the dams and ponds of the state were full. The rivers were in spate.

For the first 3 days of August, there was a period of heavy rain in the entire state. After this, the heavy rains stopped, but the period of light rain continued. There was also intense heat at the beginning of the second fortnight. Strong system became active again in the last days. Due to the activity of low pressure areas, cyclonic circulation, western disturbance and monsoon trough, heavy rains started.

This time 75 percent of the water fell in July and August. There was 14.27 inches of rain in July. This was 1.78 inches more than the quota. There was 14.50 inches of rain in August, which was one and a half inches more.

However, many big districts like Indore and Ujjain are lagging behind in terms of rain. The normal rainfall figure has not been exceeded here, but the quota is expected to be full in September.
