New spell of rains to commence in Madhya Pradesh from today

A strong rain system will be active in Madhya Pradesh from September 01 and will induce rainfall in the entire state. There is an alert of heavy rain in 35 districts.

Before this, heavy rain may occur in 12 districts including Sehore-Dewas. After releasing water from Indore's Yashwant Sagar Dam, Ujjain's dam has become full. On Saturday morning, a gate of Gambhir Dam in Ujjain was opened up to 25 cm.

IMD Bhopal scientist said, a low pressure area system is active in the Bay of Bengal. On the other hand, the monsoon trough is passing from above. Due to its effect, there will not be heavy rain in most of the districts on Saturday, but from September 1 to 3, a period of heavy rain will start in the entire state. This will happen due to the increasing effect of the low pressure area system.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Sehore, Dewas, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Damoh, Dindori districts in the next 24 hours. Light rain and thundershowers will continue in Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and other districts.

It rained in 13 districts of the state on Friday, 35 mm i.e., 1.5 inches of rainfall was recorded in Narmadapuram district, 1 inch each rainfall was recorded in Mandla and Umaria, and more than half an inch of  rainfall was recorded in Nowgong, Tikamgarh, Khajuraho, Chhindwara and Indore.

Similarly, light rain was also recorded in Betul, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Narsinghpur and Satna districts. Drizzling rain started in Bhopal in the morning, which continued at night as well. Due to two hours of heavy rain in Ashoknagar late Friday night, houses in Pathakhera village were filled with water up to two feet.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in the state from September 1 to 3 and if this occurs the dams and ponds of the state will overflow once again. The big dams of the state are more than 95 percent full.

The sluice gates of all three dams of Bhopal, Kaliyasot, Kerwa and Bhadbhada have been opened, while 4 out of 8 sluice gates of Kolar Dam near Bhopal have been opened.

On Friday also, water is flowing in Bansagar, Kundalia, Bargi, Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Johila, Parasdoh, Chandaura, Tawa, Kundalia and other dams.

So far, 33.9 inches of rain has been recorded in the state, which is 91% of the season. As soon as 3.4 inches of rainfall would be recorded the figure of normal rainfall in the state will also be crossed. Mandla and Seoni are such districts, where 45-46 inches of rainfall has been witnessed while Rewa has received the least rainfall of only 22.3 inches.

More than 40 inches of rainfall has been recorded in 10 districts of the state. Mandla has received the highest rainfall of 46.87 inches. The top 10 districts with the highest rainfall are Mandla, Seoni, Sidhi, Dindori, Sheopur, Bhopal, Chhindwara, Raisen, Narmadapuram and Sagar.
