Need to launch anti-drug campaign on lines of BBBP: Hry CM

Monday, 31 January 2022 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that there is a need to run a social campaign on the lines of Beti Bachao-Beti Badhao to make the youth aware about the ill effects of drugs.

“A joint office of eight states has been opened in Panchkula to reduce the addiction of drugs among youth. Apart from this, the Anti Narcotics Bureau has been constituted,” the Chief Minister said while interacting with 1500 youth through videoconferencing under ‘Rising Youth Talk’ programme here.

He said that if the youth are shown the right direction and their energies are properly channelized, it will prove to be an effective way in ensuring all-round development of the nation.

Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day, he said that Mahatma Gandhi is an idol of integrity and renunciation, the priest of non-violence, whose life will be an inspiration for generations to come.

Khattar said that youth need charioteer, companion and guru at every turn of life from which they can draw inspiration and constant guidance. He said that the youth should learn skilling abilities and dedicate their life for the benefits of others and learn to live for the country and society.

The Chief Minister further said that the CM Window is proving to be the best way to redress the problems of the people. About 10 lakh problems have come up in about 7 years, out of which 90 percent problems have been resolved. Citizens are satisfied with the immediate redressal of problems through the CM Window, he added.

He also said that the caste system is dangerous for society. The government is working with the slogan 'Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek'. To improve the social environment, emphasis has been laid on social, religious and cultural  education.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government's aim is to ensure that the last person standing in the queue should get the benefits of government schemes. For this, the Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme has been started. 54 schemes have already been linked with this, in which data of 67 lakh families have been verified so far.

Direct communication has been done with 90,000 families by organising Antyodaya Utthan Mela in the state. Also, 75 percent reservation has been given to the youth for employment in private sectors, he added.

Khattar said that a scheme for making passports has been implemented for the students pursuing education in colleges. The Department of Foreign Cooperation has been formed for sending youth abroad, he said.

Library set up at Chief Minister's residence

The Chief Minister said that books are the real source of knowledge. Books bring change in personal and social life. A large library has also been set up at the Chief Minister's residence which will be inaugurated soon by the Padma Shri awardees in the field of literature and sports hailing from Haryana, he said.

He also said that on the lines of the Happiness Index of Bhutan, the grading of how citizens should be happy in Haryana is being done in the Ease of Living Index.

Speaking about sports, the Chief Minister said that the work of registration of Yuva Mandal Sports Clubs would be given to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department so that maximum participation of youth could be ensured. There will be a provision of normal fee for this, he said.

He said that the parks and gymnasiums operated at the village level would be made under the youth clubs so that they could be maintained properly.
