Mahasamund MlA Vimal Chopra, at a conference held at Sirpur, administered oath to all the heads of the villages for constructing toilets in all houses. Village heads consented to form teams of youths, women and elderly persons  and initiate attempts to make use of  toilets in the villages.

On this occasion, Dr  Chopra  distributed bonus amount of Rs47,000 to 22 tendu leaves collectors  on behalf of the forest department. Chopra said that  in order to command respect one may spend lakh of rupees but  real respect would come only when every house in the village would have its own toilet.

The MlA said that people spend thousands over medical treatments but they do not spend single penny on sanitation. Prevention is better than cure.  Therefore, people should maintain cleanliness in and around their houses, he added.

Chopra said that villages must be provided all the basic amenities required there. The state government is preparing surface water supply scheme costing Rs53 crore for supplying potable water. He said that around 50 nearby villages would be benefited from this scheme.

In the conference vice president of District Panchayat Mahasamund Gopa Sahu, president of Janpad Panchayat Mahasamund Dharam Das Mahilong, district panchayat member laxman Patel, Collector Umesh Agrawal, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S Samajdar and other dignitaries also spoke.

On this occasion, the district collector heard the problems of villagers and instructed the officers concerned to resolve them. Divisional forest officer informed about the work proposed to be done for the development of the forest villages.

The district administration is carrying on the drive of Swatchch Bharat Abhiyan to bring in an awakening among the villagers for its implementation.
