The Delhi Police has rescued a six-year-old girl from the Indo-Nepal border, who was kidnapped for ransom by her relatives in Central Delhi’s IP Estate.
According to the police on Friday, they arrested five accused in connection with the kidnapping of a minor girl on August 27. “On August 27, an incident of kidnapping was reported at IP Estate Police Station in which the complainant stated that his daughter, aged about six and a half years, left home at about 8:30 pm to go to general store, but she neither reached the general store nor returned home,” DCP Central M Harsha Vardhan stated.
Vardhan added that the father further stated that someone must have lured and taken his daughter away.
A case under section 137(2) BNS was registered and investigation was taken up. “Later on they received voice messages for ransom on Whatsapp from a Malaysian number,” he said.
Upon investigation and checking more than 300 CCTV cameras, it was found that there is a Sitamarhi Bihar connection to the case by analysing the number.
“Local intelligence and detailed interviews of family members also revealed monetary issues. It was found that one of the relatives of the girl child is also from Sitamarhi district of Bihar,” the police officer said.
