With Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi nailed down the Narendra Modi’s government on the farmer’s issue, local leaders here in Uttar Pradesh, who had decided to take the issues of new Ordinance on land acquisition law, insufficient compensation to farmers against their crops damaged due to unseasional rains etc, would collect on Thursday to discuss the strategy of their demonstration scheduled for coming May 12. 

The Party leaders who had so far organised agitation at district level would now go to every block of the state, in the hope that in the long run, such protest and demonstration would help them to strengthen Party’s cadre at ground level. “All the district and city chiefs of the Congress as well as the executive and other office bearers of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee would collect under one roof to give final plan to our massive demonstration at block level against the anti-farmers approach of both the Central as well as the State government”, disclosed chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Media Committee, Satyadeo Tripathi. 

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday afternoon, Tripathi said that the decision of above demonstration has been taken during their last meeting of senior office bearers, former ministers and MPs and other senior leaders held at Party’s state head-quarter in lucknow on last Monday. He said that now the local leaders of the Congress would collect so that final shape that how the demonstration would be organised at every block level so that policy of the Congress on the farmer’s issue could be addressed more effectively. 

Tripathi claimed that besides UPCC, president, Nirmal Khatri, All India Congress Committee general secretary, and incharge of Party’s affairs here in UP, Madhusudan Mistri, will remain present during the Thursday’s meeting. He claimed that besides raising issued related to farmers during block level demonstration, the Party had already decided to burn the copy of new Ordinance on land Acquisition introduced by Narendra Modi’s government just to facilitate the Corporate world to grab the land of the farmers in the name of development.

It may be mentioned that to win the heart of the farmers, Congress besides holding demonstration, had also announced to provide financial assistance to the farmers and their families in case of their family members would suicide related to debt or damage to crops due to unseasonal rains. “We had decided that not just they would pursue the cases of the farmers to ensure that would get compensation against the damage to their crops due to untimely rains but will also forward some monetary help directly”, disclosed UPCC president, Nirmal Khatri, on last Monday.

However, this financial help would be only forwarded in those cases which will occurred after the above announcement of the UPCC. “No, we would not give any monetary help to the farmers who had already committed suicide but now since a decision in this regard was taken in today’s meeting so from now onwards, they would forward financial assistance to the farmers”, Khatri clarified while answering whether they would give financial help to all the farmers who had already committed suicide in this season.
