Jayant files papers for RS election

Tuesday, 31 May 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, who filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections from Uttar Pradesh on Monday, said now the voice of farmers, youths, unemployed and people of the downtrodden class would echo in the Upper House of Parliament.

“Those who are on the lowest rung of society will find their representation through me,” Jayant said.

He was accompanied by Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary, RLD national convener Anupam Mishra and national secretary Anil Dubey, and all the newly elected MLAs of the party.

Jayant Chaudhary expressed thanks to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, and workers and leaders of the SP-RLD alliance, saying the alliance fought bravely in the recent assembly election and remained united through thick and thin.

Jayant said he was hopeful that the alliance would acquire an important place in the current political scene.

During the assembly election, Jayant remained with the SP despite being wooed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The RLD won eight assembly seats out of the 32 seats it was given in the alliance.

Jayant's elevation to Rajya Sabha will give the alliance a boost and strengthen the ties between the SP and RLD.

Earlier, Jayant Chaudhary arrived in Lucknow and was welcomed by RLD leaders, including Anil Dubey, at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Amausi in Lucknow. He left for Delhi after filing his nomination papers.
