Heightened alert in HP, Chandigarh

In the backdrop of the tense situation at the border, Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary B.K. Agarwal on Wednesday reviewed the security situation in the state and said the state had been put on high alert.

Agarwal said all arrangements regarding security in the State had been made.

It has been observed that the situation in the Pradesh is by and large peaceful and under control and every department and organization is already taking necessary steps to manage the situation.

He directed the officers to take all the precautionary measures so that any untoward incident could be averted in the State.  He asked the police and security agencies to keep strict vigil on the miscreants so that they could not spread rumors in the state.

Agarwal urged all the organisations and agencies to be on high alert and said that if anyone needs any help regarding security then they should contact administration immediately. He said that all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been directed to be more vigilant in this regard. 

Top officials of the state government, including Director General of Police,  representatives of Army, Railways, HPSEB, SJVNL, BSNL, Doordarshan, All India Radio and other senior officers of the State government were present in the meeting.
