Govt employees need to file leave applications on-line

Monday, 30 April 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

There is a bad news for the government employees as now their leave applications will not be accepted on paper.

They need to file their applications on-line and can proceed to leave only after getting a digital approval.

The decision was taken after reports poured in that employees used to tear their applications after joining their duty. This, the officials say, was affecting government working.

The IT Department has prepared a “leave Module” which is divided into three parts. The employee needs to apply which will then go to the Departmental head for approval and the third part will go to the Headquarters for record.

“This arrangement is working on trail basis since April 17 and will be implemented across the state by May 21. Initially we faced some hiccups but the process has started rolling on efficiently. There are some gray areas which need to be addressed and officials are doing that,” a senior official said.

The proposal to start on-line leave application was mooted when reports galore about employees taking leave and then after joining duty they tear up the application and sign on the register. This is done in the connivance of the local bosses.

“This system was prevalent with the employees working in field job or in education department. This is a common practice that employees give application and proceed to leave. During inspection leave application saves that employee and if there is no inspection the employee tears up the application letter and signs on the attendance register,” the official said.

He said with this system the system of employees playing truant could be stopped. The employees ned to give application three days prior to going on leave.
