GMDA to take up six major projects at first meet today

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will hold its first meeting on Wednesday under Chief Minister Manohar lal to discuss six major projects. 

“The first meeting of GMDA will take up six projects, including setting up of a Medical College, construction of four lane flyover with provision of metro rail and four lane underpass with footpath, at Atul Kataria Chowk (Old Delhi Road) and construction of a six lane road from Umang Bharadwaj Chowk to Dwarka Expressway for approval,” said an official spokesman.

He said that projects for establishment of Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus limited, development of bus depots infrastructure, introduction of modern ticketing system, establishment of a multi-specialty of hospital in Sector-67, construction of a tourist spot around a water body in Wazirabad, improvement of City Centre and laying of athletics astro-turf at Tau Devi lal Sports Complex would also be considered.

The spokesman said that GMDA is only Indian organization which is legally mandated to be a paperless organization. The non-official members of the GMDA include vice chairman DlF Rajiv Singh, CMD Makemytrip  Deep Kalra, Managing Director Su-kam Power Systems limited, Kunwar Sachdeva and the eminent Cardiologist, Dr Naresh Trehan.

A Residents Advisory Council is set up to advise and provide guidance to the Authority.  It will also monitor the implementation of the annual plan of action for infrastructure development, mobility management plan and the plan for sustainable management of the urban environment and make such recommendations. The recommendations of the residents advisory council, alongwith an explanatory memorandum on the action taken thereon must be placed before the Authority, said he. 

The chief executive officer is mandated to prepare for every year a report of its activities and submit the report to the State Government for laying it before the State legislature, he added.
