listed gangster who was out on bail in a murder case just three days back struck terror when he opened fire at a police party killing an inspector in Faraukabad. The sensational incident took place in broad daylight on Saturday. While the cops accompanying the victim rushed to take shelter, some local residents luckily responded to SOS and they nabbed the criminal along with one of his aide and later handed over them in the custody of local police who rushed to the spot along with senior officers. Surprisingly, the said criminal had made an attempt on life of a local corporator just after he was set free on bail.

Reports said that inspector Raj Kumar Singh, posted as station house officer of Sadar Kotwali in Farukkabad, went to conduct raid at lakulabagh area to arrest hardened criminal Pappu aka Chandra Kumar Kori, on Saturday afternoon. Kori, who was listed gangster of Kotwali police station was in jail in a murder case and he was released on bail just on last Wednesday. 

According to eye-witnesses, as the police party reached Pappu’s Kori residence on Saturday afternoon, his family members raised an alert following which he (Pappu) and one his cohort who also reportedly taken shelter in his house tried to slip through the back door. However, when Raj Kumar Singh saw the duo fleeing, he rushed behind them to lay a trap but suddenly, both the criminals turned and opened fire at police party in which Raj Kumar Singh was critically injured. While the local residents rushed to rescue the police party and nabbed both the criminals, the injured inspector was rushed to District Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

They claimed that the bullet fired from almost point blank range and hit his chest turned fatal and it rapture victim’s heart. A case has been registered in this regard by the police and body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile in a separate case reported from Meerut, a 35-year-old man, who was accused of robbery and was out on bail, allegedly shot his uncle dead on the suspicion that he was providing information about him to the police, and grievously injured his sister by shooting at her when she tried to stop him. Amit, a resident of Rohta hamlet of Meerut, left  home with a country-made pistol with the intention to kill his uncle. When his 20-year-old sister Mona tried to stop him, he shot at her, station in-charge Yaad Ram Singh Yadav said. “He then went to his uncle Ranveer’s house and shot him in the chest at point-blank range,” he said. Ranveer, 60, died on the spot, while Mona is in a critical condition and has been admitted to a hospital.

According to initial investigation, Amit, who was an accused in a bike robbery case, suspected that his uncle was providing information about his criminal activities and therefore, killed him. However, police is yet to ascertain the exact reason for the murder, police said. A case of murder has been registered against Amit based on the complaint of his brother Devendra, a police official said, adding, a search operation has been initiated for the accused who is absconding.
