Police on Saturday conducted a surprise raid on a gambling den operating at Ganesh Bazaar under the Bada Bazaar police station.
The cops seized Rs 2 lakh in cash, 12 mobile phones and playcards from the spot. Based on a tipoff the, the police team led by Bada Bazaar PS Sub-Inspector B Kanhar and Sub-Inspector Swanalata Patra conducted the raid an arrested Ashok Kumar Sahu, Santosh Sahu, V Rajiv, Rabindra Patra, Rabinda Sahu, Basant Sahu, Prasant Sahu Chand Sahu, Rajendra Kumar Sahu and Rajendra Sahu.
Police have registered a case under OPG ACT and the accused would be forwarded to court, police said. The gambling den was operating taking advantage of the weekend shutdown.
