The driver of a fire tender was killed while three other firefighters were injured in a mishap on State Highway-39 near Jamrunda in Nabarangpur district late on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Purna Chandra Jani.
Sources said the Odisha Fire Services personnel were returning after attending an emergency call at Taraguda village when the fire tender turned turtle.
It was suspected that the mishap occurred due to some technical glitch in the vehicle. According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which started swinging sideways and later overturned.
The injured firefighters were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital here and their conditions were stated to be critical.
