The Raghunathpur block authority in Jagatsinghpur district has lodged an FIR against four beneficiaries for defying norms of two State Government-sponsored housing schemes.
Reports said the block authority had issued work orders to 62 beneficiaries for construction of houses under the Mo Kudia and Biju Pakka Gruha schemes in 19 gram panchayats under the block in 2013-14. The beneficiaries were given advance payment of Rs30,000 to Rs15,000 and instructed to complete the houses within the stipulated time. However, during supervision, it was revealed that four beneficiaries, Pratap Rout, Aktari Begum, Premalata Nayak and Pratima Behera were yet to begin construction of their houses. Though the block Junior Engineer issued notices to the beneficiaries, but received lukewarm responses.
later, BDO Devi Prasad Tali informed the matter to district Collector B K Upadhaya seeking permission to take legal action against the errant beneficiaries. Following this, the Collector directed the former to lodge FIR against the four and take legal action under the OPDR Act.
