Extending conducive academic environment top priority: Goswami

On the second day of the three-day Navarambh 2024-25 programme at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), various subject matter experts shared knowledge with the new students.

UPSIFS founder director Dr GK Goswami, said the aim of the programme was to provide beneficial information and a conducive academic environment to the new students to help them achieve their goals successfully.

Dr SK Jain, Director of Forensic Science Department, Delhi, discussed the uniqueness of individual voices and the advancements in voice spectrography technology, which can identify individuals even if they alter their voices. He highlighted the role of forensic science in solving cases with minimal evidence.

Dr G Khan, Additional Director of the State Medical Legal Department, elaborated on the significance of jurisprudence, medicolegal, and general toxicology in forensic science. He underscored the importance of biological evidence collection in criminal investigations, including identifying bodies and determining causes of death.

Dr Shivpoojan, advisor at Biotech Park, Lucknow, spoke about the entrepreneurial opportunities in forensic science and the application of new technologies such as 3D bioprinting for developing organs and artificial skin for forensic analysis.

Dr Arun Mohan Sherry, Director of IIIT, Lucknow, addressed the use of technology in cyber security cases and simplified communication for students.

Dr Upendra Giri highlighted practical uses of technology in real-life situations, while Rohit Negi shared his experiences in cyber security.

Dr Amit Kumar, director of Bioaxis DNA Research Centre, Hyderabad, discussed how forensic DNA technology has revolutionised the Indian justice system by providing precision and speed in crime investigation. He stressed the need for regular standards and tests to ensure the accuracy and reliability of DNA technology.

IPS officer Dr Arvind Chaturvedi provided specialised information on wildlife and animal forensic science.

At the end of the session, Dr Goswami honoured all the guest speakers with mementos. The event was also attended by Additional Director Rajeev Malhotra and others.
