A history sheeter was gunned down in an encounter with him in Khiri district on Sunday. A station officer and a constable suffered bullet injuries in their hands during the encounter with the miscreant.
According to police, a team of Maigalganj police station got a tip off about the presence of a history sheeter of Mitauli police station, Padam Singh who had visited Sripalpur villager under Maigalganj police station.
On the information, a team of police led by SO, Vishwnath Yadav left for the place.The police said the team surrounded the place where Padam Singh was camping and asked him to surrender. In reply, Padam Singh opened fire at the police team injuring SO, Vishwanath Yadav and a constable identified as Sanjeev. The cops opened fire in retaliation injuring Padam Singh seriously. He was rushed to district hospital in Khiri where he died during treatment.
The police said a country made pistol, 12 live cartridges and two shells were recovered from the miscreant. The police said Padam Singh was named in kidnapping, attempt to murder; loot and arms act from Mitauli, Bheera, Neemgaon and Maigalganj villages.
