Doon Police drafts traffic plan for religious processions

Dehradun Police has drafted a traffic plan in view of religious processions being taken out during Dussehra celebration on Saturday as well as the programme of burning of effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnad at Parade Ground which thousands of people are expected to attend. Zero-zone has been made around Parade Ground. Barricades have been put on Faltuline, Subhash Road, Darshan lal Chowk, Dunga House Crossing, Kanak Chowk, Rojgar Crossing, Convent Crossing, Oriental Chowk, lansdowne Chowk, Survey Chowk and some other places.

Arrangements of parking of VVIPs/VIPs have been made at Doon Club and Dunga House while the common public can park their vehicles at Pavilion Ground, Ranger’s Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College, MDDA Complex and Mahila Polytechnic College. Visitors have been appealed to park their vehicles at the designated parking places. Besides, the visitors have been asked  not to carry polythene bags at the programme venue. They have been advised too not to bring small children at the venue.

Traffic diversion would come into force after 3 pm on Saturday when the religious procession would start from Gopinath Mandir, Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Clock Tower, Rajpur Road, Astley Hall, Kanak Chowk and Parade Ground.

The city bus on Cantt-Rajpur Road route would start operating from Patrol Pump, Oriental Chowk. Such buses would not be allowed to move towards Kanak Chowk. Buses plying on Clement Town-Rajpur Road-Kuthal gate routes would follow routes of Darshan lal Chowk, Clock Tower and Rajpur Kuthal gate. The city bus plying on Raipur Road Maldevta Sahastradhara routes would operate from Chuna Bhatta. Buses plying on Nalapani-Seemadwar routes would follow the routes as Raipur Road, Survey Chowk, Cross Road, Faltu line and Darshan lal Chowk. 

Vikram route number 3 would operate from Tehsil and would follow the routes as Doon Chowk, MKP Chowk, CMI and Dharampur.  Vikram route number 5 would operate from Railway Gate. Vikram route number 8 would operate from Prince Chowk.

Vikram route number 2 would operate from Curzon Road. Commuters were directed to follow the traffic routes to avoid inconvenience during the Dussehra, said SP Traffic DS Gunjyal.
