Dixit slams successive Govt for state's backwardness

Wednesday, 31 August 2016 | PNS | Lucknow

Congress CM candidate Sheila Dikshit said that her party is the lone hope for the betterment of the people of Uttar Pradesh. She attacked successive governments ruling the state in the last 27 years saying the state slipped backward in time with each passing year under non-Congress rule.

Addressing a gathering at Mohanlalganj (lucknow) soon after starting the `27 Saal-UP Behal’ Yatra from Amausi airport on Tuesday morning, the former Delhi CM said that wherever she went in UP, the masses complained of non-development, unemployment, power woes, bad roads, scarce water supply and above all lack of safety.

She said that the health care system and medical services were is such poor condition that people particularly in eastern UP were forced to witness deaths of several hundred children every year.

Dixit, who along with Sanjay Singh was en route to Pratapgarh via Rae Bareli on Tuesday morning, said that the response from the public was a clear pointer that people were fed up with two and a half decade of misrule and were eager to bring a Congress government for bringing the state back on the path to development and progress.

Meanwhile UP Congress chief Raj Babbar, who led another Bus Yatra from Gorakhpur on Tuesday morning, said that despite maximum leaders hilding ministries in the UP government, the district hasbeen deprived of development in the last three decades.

He also highlighted the flood situation in the region and claimed that even after knowing that most of Gorakhpur division were flooded every year, no measures were taken by the successive governments to miniise the losses.

Babbar assured that once Congress comes to power, they would ensure proper diversion of water so that floods do not play havoc and trouble the masses.
