Community policing programme held for youth

Monday, 30 November 2015 | PNS | Mahasamund

: With a motive to connect youth and sportpersons living in insurgency-infested regions with the police, the District Police held a special programme titled  ‘Jai Johar Hamar Police Hamar Sang’ (Hello our police with us) in  the district.

Under the programme, a Community Policing Camp was held in highly sensitive Kanpla village situated on Chhattisgarh-Odisha border of Saraipali region.

A series of sports events were held and on the conclusion of programme, winners were awarded. Daily use items like torch, shawl, sari, school bags were also distributed among the residents of village.

While interacting with residents of region, the police officers informed them that with change in time, the nature of crime has also changed.

They were asked not to let Naxals hide in their village as it could affect the community at the cost of youth. Since Kanpla is surrounded by hills and devoid of road and mobile communication connectivity, such places are ideal Naxal hiding grounds, police informed villagers.

‘Jai Johar Hamar Police Hamar Sang’ (Hello our police with us) is the brainchild of district Superintendent of Police Neha Champavat.

The police urged people not to fall in the trap of chit fund companies who swindle people’s hard earned money in the name of doubling it in a short duration.

They also cautioned villagers against ‘fake-call’ demanding ATM card pin number or account number in the guise of a bank official. “No such information should be provided on phone,” she said.

The Superintendent of Police told villagers that they could pass information about crime against women or any other crime on toll free number 1091 and 1095.
