CM asks megstrate to apply pro-poor policies

Tuesday, 30 June 2015 | PNS | Lucknow

Acting tough Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the district magistrates to implement pro-poor and pro-farmers policies of the government in letter and spirit so that the benefits could reach the masses.

“Development of village, poor and farmers are on the priority of the Samajwadi Party Government. The Government will not tolerate if these sectors are neglected and officials were found lax in implementing these policies,” Yadav said during a review meeting of the DMs held at his official residence here on Monday.

CM reviewed the development of six districts in two phases. In the first phase implementation of development schemes in Allahabad and Varanasi districts and in the second phase implementation of schemes in Bahraich, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi and Mahoba districts were reviewed. DMs of these districts attended the meetings.

CM asked DMs to implement Samajwadi Pension Scheme with full transparency. This scheme is meant to help poor and is financed by the government. DMs were asked to carry out a random survey to see whether the beneficiaries were genuine. They should also verify whether the pension money was used for education of children in the family.

“The Government is celebrating this year as Kisan Varsh. The DMs should focus on issues related with farmers. The onus is on the DMs to ensure that the benefits reach the farmers at the earliest,” Yadav said.

CM talked at length about the government schemes. He asked the DMs to ensure officers attend the complaints of the people at the village level and solve them there and then.

“The DMs were asked about progress of lohia Awas Yojana. They should ensure genuine people get the benefits of the scheme. Solar lights should also be installed in these houses,” government spokesman said.
