CID, NCB and DLSA hold awareness programme against drugs

An awareness campaign was conducted on drugs at Loreto Convent, Ranchi on Saturday. In the two-hour long campaign, officials of District Legal Service Authority Jharkhand, CID Jharkhand and Narcotics Control Bureau discussed in detail with the girls of class 6 to 12 about the destructive consequences of drugs.

 

DIG Sandhya Rani Mehta from CID Jharkhand appealed to give information regarding those selling and consuming drugs.

 

She gave her mobile number and that of two more DSP rank officers to the children, whom the children and the school administration can contact at any time in relation to any problem related to drug addiction.

 

Superintendent of Narcotics Control Bureau, Shariq Omar told the students in detail about the ill effects of drugs and how it physically and mentally weakens the body, mind and the economy of the entire family. It was also told how it is a part of silent terrorism and a big conspiracy to weaken the country. He also urged to use Manas Helpline 1933

 

Atul Gera of DLSA Special Team told the children about the importance of good lifestyle and good health. Along with this, he gave many examples in which children have to understand the promotion of drugs and gambling especially by cricket and Bollywood celebrities and protect themselves.

DLSA advocate Shivani Singh explained in detail the strict laws made against drugs and their provisions and told about the prevention of drugs in the NDPS Act.

 

Life Savers Ranchi and former teacher of Loreto Convent, Kawaljit Kaur also told the children in a very beautiful way about staying away from drugs and good lifestyle.

 

School Principal Sister Gloria Lakra and all the teachers of the senior section participated in this de-addiction campaign.

 

Finally, through a film made by the Narcotics Control Bureau, children were also made aware about the ill effects of drugs and its dangers in society.
