UT Administrator announces free travelling facility to women in local buses plying in Tri-city on Raksha Bandhan

Chandigarh: To facilitate the free travelling of women on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 19 UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday announced free travelling facility to women in the AC and Non-AC local buses plying in Tri-city area -Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm across the country. On this occasion, sisters visit their brothers/ parental places to tie the sacred threads of love.

Haryana Govt transfers 12 IPS, 3 HPS officers

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government on Friday transferred 12 IPS and three HPS officers. These transfers/postings will come into force with immediate effect. As per official statement, Rakesh Kumar Arya, Commissioner of Police, Faridabad, has been posted as IGP, Administration, and IGP, Law and Order, Haryana, against a vacant post. OP Narwal, under transfer as IGP/PTC Sunaria, Rohtak, has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Faridabad. Surinder Pal Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police, has been posted as DIG/HAP, Madhuban.

Kolkata Tragedy: Faculty Association of PGI, Chd to support strike call of IMA along with other INIs today

Chandigarh: The Faculty Association of PGIMER, Chandigarh on Friday decided to support the strike call of Indian Medical Association along with other INIs on August 17 in solidarity with the resident doctors following the recent gruesome incident at Kolkata.  Accordingly, all outpatient department services will remain closed in PGIMER on Saturday. However, emergency and critical care services will continue as before. In a press statement, the official spokesperson said that Faculty Association strongly condemns the heinous act that happened in RG Kar Institute Kolkata. They demand immediate implementation of CPA. They also demand the justice to the victim and victim’s family by awarding strict punishment to all the perpetrators involved in the crime among others, the spokesperson added.
