BJP has failed in every front: Ajay Singh

Friday, 22 February 2013 | SR | Bhopal

State Congress has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) Government in the State has failed on every front of governance in the State and the story of development in the State has been laid down by the funds and schemes of the Centre.

“The BJP Government is befooling the people by claiming that the development of the State has become possible by its efforts,” said leader of Opposition in State assembly Ajay Singh on Thursday.

Singh was speaking in the Assembly during discussion on the Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address on Monday.

“When we were in power in the State, the BJP never failed in talking high about the funds provided by the party led NDA Government at the Centre. But now, when the Centre is providing more funds to the State Government, the BJP never remembers to even mention its contribution not to talk of being thankful to the Centre,” he said.

“Out of the total length of 90,000 kilometres of road that has been laid in the State, half of it is under the Pradhanmantri Sadak Yojna of the Centre. The State has also received Rs 21,000 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Rs 9,000 crore under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM),” he said, adding that most of the development work whether in urban or rural areas or in the sectors of health, agriculture or employment is due to the money received under Central government schemes.

Singh further alleged that the ‘Krishi Karman Award’ about which the State Government is making huge propaganda has been given to 18 States of the country. The real face of agriculture in the state is revealed by the fact that nearly 11,000 farmers have committed suicide in past years, he added.

Singh alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has the habit of making new announcements in morning and forgetting them by evening. “The State is paying price of the unimplemented schemes and declarations of the Chief Minister,” he remarked in the House.

Singh further citied the State government for increasing cases of corruption, rising cases of malnutrition deaths among children, increasing cases of crimes against women and failed industrial policies.
