The Town police on Sunday arrested a businessman and his three bodyguards for performing celebratory firing during a cultural event at Balisahi here recently.
The accused businessman was identified as Narayan Sahoo alias Narua and his three security guards as Papu, Bakur Kumar and Devendra Kumar.
Reports said a video of the celebratory firing at a private party went viral on social media. In the video, it was seen that the accused fired at least six rounds in the air while dancing in a function at Telipadia area of the district.
When the video surfaced on social media it drew flak from different quarters over the brazen display of arms. Later, the Puri police, in suo motu cognisance, initiated a probe against the persons involved in the incident.
The police seized two pistols and live bullets from the arrestees’ possessions.
