After a fruitful meeting with the Chief Minister Yogi Adtiyanath on Thursday, All India Jamaital Quraish (AIJQ) decided to end the 10-day long strike while the meat shops will open after Navratri. 

At around 6 pm, Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh accompanied a delegation of the All India Jamaital Quraish (AIJQ) to Chief Minister’s residence to hold a detailed discussion about the problems and action taken against the meat shops. 

Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said the delegation of AIJQ met Chief Minister and handed over their memorandum to him. The CM has clearly said that the government will not do discrimination against anyone. The action against the illegal slaughter houses were being done on the guidelines of National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Supreme Courts. 

“These orders were overlooked by the previous governments we are just implementing those. The government will consider the demands presented by the AIJQ in the meeting. The meeting was fruitful,” he added. 

“The meeting was fruitful where the Chief Minister first heard our problems properly and said that he has not given any direction for action against the meat shops, these are the orders of previous government. But still does not want to stop the licensed shops from opening,” said Chaurdary Ale-Umar, General Secretary AIJQ after the meeting. 

In the meeting, the office bearers of AIJQ shared that they buy animals from the farmers for which proper procedure is followed. The slaughter houses closed were run by Municipal Corporations and Nagar Panchayats, we have nothing to do with that, it was controlled by the government officials only. 

Chaudhary claimed that the CM said if the shops are licensed I have no problem in ordering the renewal of their licenses. The order will be issued by Friday. The CM has asked to ensure that the licensed shops should fulfill the requirements and conditions as per rules and they would be allowed to open. He also assured that unless the slaughter houses are prepared, the alternative arrangement for domestic slaughtering will be made. 

“CM confidently said if we are doing the legal things he will support us but the illegal activities will not be spared even if it is done by the government officials,” said Chaudhary. 

Now, the meat shop owners will not make arrangements at their shops to meet the requirement for renewal of the licenses. He said as the Navratri is underway, we will complete the guidelines for license before the festival ends.
