With an aim to improve the delivery system the Akhilesh Yadav Government has issued directives to the field officers to regularly monitor the development schemes so that the benefits of the government projects could reach the targeted beneficiaries.

“The motto of the government is to improve public service delivery and impart good governance. Our aim is not only to implement government scheme but also to see that benefits reach the people. The officials have been asked to monitor these schemes regularly and if they come across any difficulty they should check with the state government,” Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan told The Pioneer here on Sunday.

Chief Secretary has sent an order asking Principal secretary, secretaries, Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates to thoroughly implement the Government schemes. They have also been asked to depute a nodal officer to popularise these projects among the people.

Chief Minister had himself realized that people do not know about the schemes government had launched for their benefit. He was candid to admit that even district magistrates do not know about the development scheme the government had launched. He had mentioned this in his meeting with the bureaucrats in a meeting held early this week. Now, the Government has made it a point that all the government schemes should be highly publicized.

In that meeting Chief Minister had declared that Samajwadi Party Government was committed for the development of the state and now on officers should work with full dedication towards implementation of government schemes in letter and spirit.    

Incidentally, it was the ignominious defeat that made Government realized that people of Uttar Pradesh they are craving for development. Therefore, Government shelved its freebie schemes like free distribution of laptops and concentrated on implementation of developmental schemes in the state.

Ranjan clarified that officials have been asked to carry out inspections at regular basis to see progress of development projects. “The officials have been asked to make a list of schemes on which decisive decision has been taken. large number of writ cases is also pending. The officials have also been asked to prepare a list of those writs and see what decision Government should take,” Chief Secretary said.

He said the bottom line is transparency because this is the only weapon to weed out corruption. “The officers have been asked to used electronic technology to ensure right and correct information reaches the people in no time,” Ranjan said and added: “For this citizen charter system has been introduced under which people-oriented work would be done in a time bound manner.”
