Amid the AAP launching a campaign from next month to reach out to people as the party gears up for the state assembly polls due early next year, the Delhi BJP on Monday hit out at the party and said that the AAP, which has been out of touch with the public for ten years, is now forced to launch the gimmick ‘AAP ka vidhayak, aap ke dwaar’.
The Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the AAP appears to be politically completely desperate. “In the last ten years, AAP MLAs, councillors, and even Rajya Sabha MPs have been disconnected from the public, as a result of which, in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the public gave AAP a severe defeat in 52 assembly constituencies, including 9 reserved for Scheduled Castes in Delhi,” he asserted.
Sachdeva alleged that according to reliable sources, in the review meeting held by AAP leaders after the Lok Sabha elections, the second main reason for the party candidates’ defeat, after the corruption of the party leadership, was found to be the wave against the MLAs.
“The wave against AAP in Delhi is so strong that the party fielded three MLAs—Kuldeep Kumar, Sahiram Pehlwan, and Somnath Bharti — in the Lok Sabha elections. All three lost badly in the Lok Sabha elections, and two of them, Kuldeep Kumar and Somnath Bharti, even lost their assembly seats, while Sahiram Pehlwan barely managed to save his assembly seat,” the Delhi BJP chief said.
