6 candidates served notices for not submitting campaign expense info

Six candidates of various political parties contesting from the Tehri parliamentary constituency have been served notices for not submitting their election campaign expenditure to the election officer on Monday.

Mala Rajya laxmi Shah of Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress party candidate Saket Bahuguna are among those who have shown less election campaign expenditure compared to the estimate by election expenditure officials. Such candidates were also served notices and directed reply by Wednesday.

Dehradun chief treasury officer Jagat Singh Chauhan said that candidates of various political parties and independent candidates were earlier directed to submit election campaign expenditure report to the election office on April 28. Six candidates including Rashtriya lok Dal candidate Japinder Singh, Peace Party candidate Hazi Mohammad Yusuf, independent candidates Sohanpal Singh, Prem Singh Yadav and Gaurav Pundir failed to submit election expenditure report to the office on said date. These candidates were asked for an explanation and directed to reply by Wednesday. The expenditure shown by Saket Bahuguna of INC and Mala Rajya laxmi Shah of BJP is Rs 21, 42, 331 and Rs 20, 20, 358 respectively less than the estimate by election expenditure officials. However, the expenditure shown by Shiv Prasad Devli of Communist Party of India (Marxist) is Rs 1,12,667 more than the estimate by election officials.

The BJP candidate showed Rs 3, 43,279 as election campaign expenditure while election officials had estimated the expenditure at Rs 23,63,637. The Congress candidate had shown Rs 8, 42,120 as election campaign expenditure while election officials had estimated it at Rs 29,84,451. AAP candidate Anoop Nautiyal showed his expenditure at Rs  9,72, 886 while it was estimated to be Rs 12,07,679 by officials. Shiv Prasad Devli showed Rs 2,76, 942 as an election expenditure while department had estimated it at Rs 1,64,275. BSP candidate Shishpal Singh showed Rs 60,000 as election campaign expenditure while department officials had estimated it at Rs 3,79,479.
