374 new Covid cases, 4 deaths in State

The State registered 374 new Covid-19 positive cases in 24 districts and the State pool on Saturday, with which the total tally increased to 10,40,969.

Among the newly-infected were 65 children in the age group of 0 to18 years.

Out of the new cases, 218 were reported from quarantine and 156 local contacts.

Notably, the State had recorded 365 cases on Friday.

Khordha district reported the day’s highest 182 cases followed by Mayurbhanj with 22, Cuttack 17, Baleswar 14, Jagatsinghpur 11 and Sambalpur 10.

The districts which recorded below-10 cases were Sundargarh nine, Nuapada nine, Angul and Bhadrak nine each, Puri seven, Ganjam five, Gajapati and Dhenkanl two and Balangir, Nayagarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Subarnapur one each.

Besides, 43 positive cases were reported from the State pool.

Four more people succumbed to the disease, surging the total death tally to 8,329.

Khordha district recorded two deaths and Cuttack and Nayagarh one each.

However, 490 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 10,28,697.

State capital Bhubaneswar on the day registered 140 Covid-19 cases, with which the total tally in the city rose to 1,18,216. The active cases were 3,015.

 Notably, the city had recorded 142 cases on Friday.

One more patient succumbed to the disease, increasing the total death toll in the city to 1,053.

Total 261 more patients, increasing the total recoveries to 1,14,249.
