CPM protests power tariff hike
The hike in the power tariff is anti-people, cfried the CPI(M) while holding a protest demonstration before the Cesu office here on Thursday. Party leaders said the burden of losses in power production and distribution has been passed on to the common people. Reliance and AES companies have not paid thousands of crores of rupees, for which the Government, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) and the distribution companies are responsible, the party alleged. Among others, CPI(M) State secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik, senior leader Jagannath Mishra, district secretary Suresh Panigrahi and youth leader Jatin Mohanty were present.
Sammilani holds Sahid laxman death anniv
The Utkal Sammilani observed the death anniversary of Sahid laxman Naik paying floral tribute to his statue at Nalco Square here on Wednesday. Sammilani Mancheswar unit president Dillip Dashsharma presided over the function. Sammilani members chanted Bande Utkal Janani and laxman Naik Amar Ruha on the occasion. Among others, Sammilani advisor Padma Charan Nayak, general secretary Adwaita Kumar Patra, former Assembly Speaker Sarat Kumar Kar, Mihir Meher, Dr Gopal Krushna Srichandan and Shiv Prasad Mishra were present.
