A total of 17 students and bus driver were injured when a bus from Prayagraj ferrying students to their native villages in Kushinagar met with an accident on the outskirts of Ayodhya late Tuesday night.
The injured were initially rushed to community health centre (CHC) from where they were later referred to Ayodhya district hospital.
Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district magistrate and district police chief to ensure proper treatment to the injured and also arrange a bus so that the other students could reach their homes.
As per reports, a Lohia Sewa bus of Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC)  was going from Prayagraj to Kushinagar when a truck rammed into it from behind at Bilarimafi area on Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway. As a result the bus driver lost control over the wheel and the bus skidded off the road.
Of the occupants, 17 were injured, including the bus driver and a constable deployed for security. They were rushed to community health centre in Bikapur for first aid and later 12 of them were referred to Ayodhya district hospital for treatment. The condition of three students was stated to be critical.
Ayodhya DM Anuj Jha and SSP Asheesh Tewari rushed to the hospital after learning about the mishap and arranged another bus for the other students to go to their native places in Kushninagar.
The Yogi government had decided to send students preparing for various competitions at Prayagraj to their native places due to problems being faced by them during lockdown. So far, 10,000 students have been sent home using 300 buses.
