14 juveniles escape from protection home; 7 held

The cops of Mathura police went on alert after getting information that 14 inmates of the district juvenile protection home had escaped sometime on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

A massive search operation carried out by the cops yielded some results as they managed to nab seven of the missing inmates but seven others were still untraceable.

A case was registered and search operation was on to nab the missing inmates.

The inmates nabbed by the police revealed that they slipped out of the Sadar Bazaar juvenile protection home as poor quality food was being served to them despite their complaints.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover said the issue was being investigated and a report would be sent to the government so that grievances of the inmates could be addressed to and they got proper care.

In Mirzapur, two inmates lodged in a temporary jail slipped out through the window sometime late Wednesday night and escaped.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning during routine checking when the two were found missing. The window grill was also found broken.

According to reports, the Mirzapur administration has set up a temporary jail in Chunar to put inmates in quarantine till their test for coronavirus is not completed.

On Thursday morning, the jail administration found two inmates missing and the window grill of their barrack broken.

According to Superintendent of Police in Mirzapur, Dharamveer Singh, the inmates have been identified as Satish Shukla and Asheesh Bind. They were arrested on July 17 by the cops of Haliya police station in connection with running auto-lifting gang.

Singh said that local police along with the cops of the neighbouring districts had been alerted and a case reward of Rs 25,000 each had been announced on the arrest of the two inmates.

A case has been registered in this regard and four teams have been formed to trace out the inmates.
