1.40 crore students, teachers pledge to make UP drug-free

Tuesday, 13 August 2024 | PNS

After cracking down on drug mafia in Uttar Pradesh through extensive police and administrative operations, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is now focused on raising awareness among children to keep them from falling into the trap of drug abuse.

In this effort, approximately 1.40 crore students and teachers from council schools took a pledge on Monday morning to make Uttar Pradesh drug-free. The oath taking ceremony took place at all the council schools at 9 am.

Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 1.40 crore students and teachers across all council schools in the state were administered the oath to stay away from drugs all their lives and to make the state drug-free. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathji has been actively working on this initiative, having launched the ‘Drug-Free State, Empowered State’ campaign, with all state departments playing a vital role in its implementation.”

It is worth mentioning here that the UP government previously formed the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi and launched a series of crackdowns on drug dealers. The government’s action against the drug mafia resulted in numerous arrests and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics substances.

It is important to note that the Yogi government is paying special attention to the weaker sections of society in its efforts to achieve the goal of a ‘Drug-Free State, Empowered State’. The government is closely monitoring individuals who use drugs or intoxicants, urging them to quit and warning them about the harmful effects of drugs on their health, families, and society.

Meanwhile, the Yogi government is consistently implementing measures to enhance the quality of education and overall development of students in council schools. Under the leadership of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, the Basic Education department is taking proactive steps to achieve this goal.
